Vault Visit | Anti-hate signs stolen from Greensboro neighborhood

On August 5, 2019, we shared the story of a theft that disappointed a Greensboro neighborhood.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year, WFMY News 2 turns 75! So to celebrate, we're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.

On August 5, 2019, we shared the story of a theft that disappointed a Greensboro neighborhood.

People in northwest Greensboro had put our lawn signs that said: "Hate has no home here".

They were in response to gun violence and hate-related attacks that had happened around the nation.

But one morning... Half a dozen people in the neighborhood woke up to find their signs gone.

"They just slipped the yard sign off. To abridge my right to free speech I find that abhorrent and also an act of cowardice," said Phil Lavine, a neighbor.

There's no word on whether or not anyone ever faced charges for the thefts.
