Vault Visit: 2016 USA Olympic team's opening ceremony jeans came from the Triad

The jeans were made for more than 500 athletes over two months.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year, WFMY News 2 turns 75! So to celebrate, we're opening the News 2 vault.

2016 was another Olympic year. On Aug. 11, we got an inside look at a unique Triad connection to the Rio Olympics.

The jeans team USA wore in the opening ceremonies were made in the Triad.

The White Oak Cone Denim plant made the special white denim and the custom red, white and blue siding.

It took about two months to get it all ready for the more than 500 team USA athletes. The team's blue blazers were also made right here in North Carolina at plants near Fayetteville.
