A popular Greensboro movie theater adds age restrictions

Red Cinemas is adding an age restriction on some shows for safety.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A popular Greensboro theater added an age restriction for the weekends.

Red Cinemas now says children need to be with someone older than 21 for shows after 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The theater says it decided in the interest of safety. We asked the general manager to elaborate but haven't heard back yet.

Other theatres in Greensboro and throughout the Triad have similar policies. The following message is posted on the websites for the Regal Grande in Greensboro as well as the Regal Palladium in High Point:

"After 9 PM, moviegoers under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian 21 years of age. To be on theatre property, a valid state ID or military ID may be required to verify age."

The AmStar Four Seasons movie theatre has a similar policy, requiring people under 18 to have someone 21 years of age or older with them if they want to watch a showing after 6 p.m.
