6 artists to be inducted into North Carolina Music Hall Of Fame on Thursday

Petey Pablo, a Grammy-nominated rap artist from Greenville, is both performing and being inducted at the event.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Six artists will be inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame on Thursday. 

The new inductees include Bobby Hicks, Clarence Avant, Mary Cardwell Dawson, Merge Records, Petey Pablo and Tommy Faile.

The induction ceremony will include performances from Petey Pablo, Anthony Hamilton, The Tennessee Bluegrass Band, H.C. McEntire, Kendrick Williams, and David Johnson with Bobby Denton.

Petey Pablo, a Grammy-nominated rap artist from Greenville known for hits like "Raise Up" and "Freek-A-Leek," is both performing and being inducted at the event. 

Hamilton, a Grammy-winning 2017 Hall of Fame inductee from Charlotte, will perform in remembrance of Avant. The Tennessee Bluegrass Band will perform in tribute to Hicks, who died in August. McEntire, currently based in Durham, is performing on behalf of Merge Records.

Williams, who has performed with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra among other ensembles, is performing in tribute to Cardwell Dawson. David Johnson & Band and Denton are performing in commemoration of Faile.

The ceremony starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in downtown Mooresville, with country artist George Hamilton V as the guest emcee. Tickets are available online for $100.
