GREENSBORO, N.C. — Moviegoers in the Triad are in for a treat.
Golden Ticket Cinemas, formerly known as Brassfield Cinemas, has a new name and a new look.
“We started this process well over a year ago and started the demo process back in January. It’s crazy that it’s taken this long; it’s almost like we built a new building," John Bloemeke, President of Golden Ticket Cinemas said.
Like many others, Bloemeke said COVID-19 certainly threw a wrench in things.
“The biggest challenge through that period is we didn’t have any films to play and Hollywood like everywhere else shut down for a period," Bloemeke said.
But he’ll soon be opening the doors to the big screens.
Updated concessions, heated reclining seats, wall-to-wall screens, and surround sound speakers are just a few of the upgrades.
Another added feature will be a beer tap service that Bloemeke said no other cinema in the Triad has.
All of the changes, Bloemeke said speak to the movie industry as a whole.
He said movie theaters aren't dying they're evolving.
"The movie-going experience thirty years ago is night and day compared to what it is now. You've got to evolve, especially with options out there; you've got to provide something that is above and beyond," Bloemeke added.
Whether it's the candy or the buttery popcorn that draws people to theaters, watching a film on the big screen is a shared experience.
"When you go to the theater, it really kind of forces you to be alone with yourself, be alone with the movie, and meditate on it. I don't think you can get at home," Bloemeke said.
The Cinema plans to make its debut Friday with the first show playing at 7 p.m. For ticket and show information, click or tap here.
