GREENSBORO, N.C. — Triad, get ready to tee off! Topgolf announced Thursday its Greensboro location will open on Friday, Sept. 13.
The site is located at 609 Guilford College Road, along I-40 off exit 213.
The company said the location will have 60 outdoor climate-controlled hitting bays spanning two levels. Each bay has lounge-type furniture or high-top tables for groups to enjoy games and cheer on players. Topgolf's newest innovation, The Sure Thing Club, will be available at the venue.
"Welcoming Topgolf to Greensboro is the ultimate 'hole in one' for our community," Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan said. "In addition to adding 300 jobs to the local economy, Topgolf adds to our reputation for top-notch recreation as we value quality of life."
The company said Topgolf is more than just golf with a full-service restaurant, bar-manned by executive chefs, a 28-foot video wall, more than 200 HDTVs, music, and year-round family-friendly programming round out the Topgolf experience.
The company also said private event space and rooftop terrace are prime spots for team outings, family gatherings, meetings, or celebrations.
"We are excited to officially open Topgolf Greensboro!" Chief Development Officer Chris Callaway said. "We can't wait for the community to come play around and enjoy our signature Topgolf experience."
A nearby gas station and convenience store is also excited for Topgolf to open.
Jeff Mercer with Family Fare Convenience Stores said sales are already being impacted in a positive way by the workers building the Topgolf site.
"You have the construction phase of it, and then you have when they open up to customers, then you have their staff. So, we want to get to know all of them," said Mercer.
Mercer said the store is already preparing for an increase in customers.
"The franchisees will be hiring additional staff members; we have to look at our customer base," Mercer continued, "We have to talk to our gasoline suppliers."
Plans are in the works as business booms in Greensboro with big names like Toyota, Boom Supersonic, and Marshall Aerospace creating area jobs. Spots like Topgolf will give workers a place to have fun.
Altogether, the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce hopes these efforts will bring in new visitors and keep people around.
"Now you have something for them to do. You have people coming from Winston-Salem, that will come from a Burlington, that will come from a High Point and Greensboro especially as well, right? To be able to enjoy live work and play," said the chamber's Executive Vice President of Economic Development, Marvin J. Price.
This is the fourth Topgolf location in North Carolina including locations in Charlotte and Durham.
