The family of former professional wrestler Sid Vicious, also known as "Psycho Sid," announced Monday that the 63-year-old had died after a battle with cancer.
Vicious — whose real name was Sid Eudy — made his name on the professional circuit as a member of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) back in 1989. He went on to make his WWE debut in 1991 as a special guest referee for a tag match between Hulk Hogan/The Ultimate Warrior and The Triangle of Terror, which was headlined by Sgt. Slaughter.
The peak of Vicious' career came in the mid-90s when he became a two-time WWE champion. He won his first title in a bout with Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series in 1996. After losing the belt in a rematch with Michaels, Vicious became champion for the second time on a 1997 episode of RAW where he defeated Bret Hart.
"He was a man of strength, kindness and love, and his presence will be greatly missed," Eudy's son, Gunnar, said in a statement. "We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss."
