High Point native Fantasia to perform at 2024 CFP National Championship

High Point native Fantasia will sing the 'The Star-Spangled Banner' ahead of kickoff on Jan. 8.

HOUSTON, Texas — Grammy award-winning superstar and High Point native Fantasia will be performing at the 2024 College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship on Jan. 8, CFP announced Thursday. 

Fantasia will perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" ahead of kickoff at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. 

The National Anthem Ceremony will begin with the presentation of the Nation's Colors by a Joint Armed Forces Color Guard from the Military District of Washington. Leading up to the national championship, there will be tailgating for fans and free outdoor events. 

Since winning American Idol in 2004, Fantasia [Barrino] is a Grammy Award-winning singer, actress, and author who has enjoyed chart-topping, multi-platinum success. To date, she has sold over 3 million records and 2.5 million digital tracks in the U.S. alone. 

Fantasia was recently nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Warner Bros' "The Color Purple", coming to theatres on Christmas Day.
