CONCORD, N.C. — Start your engines and fire up that holiday spirit, local holiday tradition Speedway Christmas is back! The light show officially kicks off on Nov. 19.

“It really is the most wonderful time of the year here at Charlotte Motor Speedway, we kick off Speedway Christmas tomorrow night so we’re open every night, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. all the way to January 16," Charlotte Motor Speedway Senior Communications Director Jonathan Coleman said.
The speedway's operations crews have put in 5,000 work hours to string and test lights in preparation for the 12th season of Speedway Christmas.
“We ran the Bank of America Roval 400 on a Sunday and that following Tuesday we had crews out here hard at work starting to pull out the lights setting them in place," Coleman said.
For more than a decade, Charlotte Motor Speedway has transformed into a Christmas wonderland making it the Southeast's largest drive-thru light show.
This year, expect to see 400 million lights strung along a 3.75-mile drive-thru course synchronized to Christmas music that you can listen to from your car radio.
There will also be 800 individual displays, including some more than eight stories high.
“Thursday through Sunday nights typically our busiest nights, Friday and Saturday really get busy," Coleman said. "If you just want to come to see the lights Monday through Wednesdays night, the Village itself is not open but there’s still plenty to see and enjoy.”
The Christmas Village will allow families to get out of their cars and enjoy activities from photos with Santa to shopping for gifts and making s’mores by the fire.
“We also show Christmas movies up on our big screen tv so 16,000 square feet of HD-TV is a pretty cool way to catch some of your favorite movies," Coleman said. "Home Alone 2 this weekend, Elf and A Christmas Story but it's really more than that -- it's about spending time with family, it's about making memories.”
