Lexington Barbecue Festival brings weekend fun for thousands

The famed southern food fest will be held this Saturday for a day filled with fun and full stomachs.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — The highly anticipated Lexington Barbecue Festival returns this Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.. Thousands of barbecue fans will travel to Lexington this Saturday to try the unique flavors.

As the festival celebrates its 40th year, fans are anticipating its arrival this weekend. Complete with a 50-ton pig themed sand sculpture, organizers have pulled out all the stops to make this year's festival the best yet.

Patrons expect nothing less from the barbecue capital of the world. For many, the festival is a tradition and time to pause for fun.

"It's good to go out and go to a festival or fair every once in a while just to kind of forget all of the icky stuff that can happen out there and I think North Carolina needs a little festival right now," said Rey Ferguson, stage hand.

WFMY News 2 will also make an appearance at the festival. Attendees are encouraged to stop by our treat trailer to donate batteries for Helene survivors in western North Carolina!

All battery sizes will be accepted.
