RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina State Fair announced Monday that just shy of one million people attended the event in Raleigh from its opening day on October 17 to its final on October 27.
The fair had a total attendance of 998,926 this year, according to officials. That is the sixth most people to attend the fair in a single year since its first rendition was back in 1853.
“This was a great fair that was blessed with 11 beautiful days of weather and the attendance reflected that," said North Carolina Agricultural Commissioner Steve Troxler. "But seeing people enjoying themselves, laughing with family and friends and making memories together is the true measure of success, I want to thank the State Highway Patrol and Raleigh Police Department for handling the traffic throughout the fair, our law enforcement partners who are essential to ensuring a safe fair and especially the public for their continued support.”
The fair also reported a new attendance record for a Tuesday, which is set last week thanks to Senior Day.
A total of 280,000 meals were donated dyring Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day. The donated meals will go to the MANNA Food Bank in Asheville.
According to the fair, the Food Bank of Central and Eastern Carolina, which normally receives the donations, chose to send the food to MANNA instead while western North Carolina is still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
The 2025 North Carolina State Fair will take place from Oct. 16-26.
