'Survivor' season 46 cast features North Carolina native

The 46th season of Survivor is going to feature a Charlotte native.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Survivor is returning for its 46th season on Wednesday. So, new castaways are preparing to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.

One of those contestants is Kenzie Petty, a hair salon owner from Charlotte. She will face off against 17 other contenders to see who gets to take home the $1 million grand prize.

"I like to be looked at. So, let's give them something to look at," Petty said.

Host Jeff Probst has a behind-the-scenes look at what could be the best season of the new era.

"Because the 90-minute episodes worked so well in Survivor 45, we get to do it again in Survivor 46. In addition, this season we have a two-hour premiere, and episode two is also 2 hours. We get to spend more time with the players because we have time to show them. And this group is funny," Probst laughed.

Don't miss the two-hour season premiere of Survivor on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on WFMY News 2.
