GREENSBORO, N.C. — Sean Higgins is an Emmy-nominated editor and photojournalist for WFMY News 2. He is a member of the 2 Wants To Know team and serves as WFMY News 2's Carolina Panthers analyst appearing in weekly segments that take a closer look at the Panthers' opponents.
Higgins joined WFMY in January of 2016 after graduating from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro where he majored in Media Studies and minored in Deaf Studies. In 2017, he joined Tanya Rivera and the 2WTK team as its photographer and special projects editor (hooray TV Magic). In 2018 his role expanded further as he helped add a little 2WTK flair to the 5pm and 6pm newscasts.
As a photojournalist, Higgins has been a part of WFMY’s award-winning weather coverage. In 2016, he was embedded in Oak Island, NC with WFMY’s Chad Silber and Tim Buckley for coverage of Hurricane Matthew. In 2017, he was on the ground moments after a tornado ripped through eastern Greensboro. In 2018, Higgins was a part of team coverage of Hurricane Florence and the historic flooding it brought to Lumberton, NC.
He is a self-proclaimed sports and pop culture nerd and spends his free time watching his favorite TV shows with his wife and playing with his 5-year-old son.
