Florence dumps 10 inches of rain some places across Piedmont

Now that Florence has left the Piedmont, the big question is: How much rain fell?

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Florence battered the Piedmont with gusty wind and flash flooding. Now that the storm is over, let's take a look at the rain totals across the area. In general, the majority of the rain fell across the southern Piedmont. Rain totals were also significant across the Triad, with less rain to the west across the Foothills.

Here are a few notable rain totals:

Most of the rain fell in one day. Our weather spotters reported over 7" of rain, just on Sunday.

After this storm, we're over 6" above normal for rainfall this year at PTI.

We'll have a chance to dry out some the rest of the week, with only a small chance of rain Tuesday, ahead of a completely dry stretch of days Wednesday through Friday.
