GREENSBORO, N.C. — All lanes near Oakland Avenue have reopened after Smith Trucking Company was on fire early Tuesday morning, according to Greensboro police.
Greensboro Fire Department's Deputy Fire Chief, Dwayne Church, said fire crews went in defense mode immediately after they arrived at the scene due to the size of the fire.
Church said someone driving by noticed the fire and called it in.
60 firefighters were needed to fight this fire because it was difficult to access fire hydrants and the water pressure was low.
Another challenge was the rounded roof on the building. It's dangerous and it can collapse easily so, the drone team was called in before crews could do a primary search.
Fire crews don't believe anyone in inside since they discovered all doors and windows secured. There were some issues with water supply because trucks had to get through a fence of the facility.
The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
