Road Rage Leads to Fight Between 2 Mothers In Elementary School Parking Lot: Police

Johnston County school administrators pulled them apart and called the police. Their were kids in the car when it happened.

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A road-rage incident ended with two Johnston County mothers fighting in the parking lot at East Clayton Elementary School. CBS 17 spoke with both, and each blames the other for the fight.

Sandra Delgado showed CBS 17 the bruises and scratches on her hands and arms. She said they’re the result of a fight with another mother.

"She grabbed me by my neck and I kinda moved back, so she got my shirt,” Delgado said.

It started on Tuscan Ridge Way by NC-42 in Clayton. Delgado said she doesn’t remember cutting anyone off.

The other mom, Toni Brannon, told a different story.

"I'm assuming she's going to go right. Instead, I get ready to go and she goes,” Brannon said.

It happened on Tuesday afternoon.

Brannon said Delgado nearly caused an accident.

"At that point, I probably didn't make the best decision and I did follow her,” Brannon said.

"When I noticed her following so close, she flipped me the bird. And, so, I'm like 'I'm just going to let this go. I'm late to pick up my little girl,'” Delgado said.

Investigators confirm Brannon followed Delgado to the school. Brannon admits her kids were in the car.

"She just jumps out and she's like, I mean, she's going crazy,” Delgado said.

"I said, 'Why in the world would you do that? You really you took a chance of hurting a lot of people,'” Brannon said.

"I'm explaining to her if I did cut you off, then I apologize,” Delgado said.

"When I approached her, I went like this. She grabs, she throws me down. I hit the back of my head,” Brannon said.

Both said school administrators pulled them apart and called the police.

Brannon said she left the scene.

"I truly believe I've been charged with assault because I was not there to tell my side of the story,” Brannon said.

Brannon said she had a black eye. Her chest, neck, and head are also bruised.

Delgado had a message for Brannon.

"Get some anger management classes,” Delgado said.

Brannon has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct. She said she's hired an attorney and is optimistic the charges will be dismissed.
