ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — One person died after a Rockingham County house fire Thursday.
A call came in at 10:55 a.m. about a fire on NC 87 near Wentworth. Seven departments responded. The identity and gender of the victim haven't been released.
Rockingham County Emergency Services Director Rodney Cates said the cause of the fire isn't known, but he doesn't suspect foul play.
Traffic was closed on NC 87 between both ends of Ashley Loop Road while fire officials dealt with the fire, which is still under investigation.
