ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- Rockingham County has a new District Attorney.
On Thursday, Governor Roy Cooper appointed Jason Ramey as Rockingham County District Attorney. Ramey replaces Interim D.A. Tom Keith.
“I appreciate Tom Keith stepping in to provide stability during a time of uncertainty for the community, and I am confident that the new DA will bring steady, capable leadership to the office,” Gov. Cooper said.
Ramey currently works as an Assistant District Attorney for District 17A, prosecuting cases in juvenile, district, and superior courts. He previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in District 20A and as vice president of the Rockingham County Bar Association. Ramey holds degrees from Pensacola Christian College and Wake Forest University School of Law.
In February, Keith announced he was resigning.
He took over when former District Attorney Craig Blitzer stepped down during an SBI investigation.
