Leggett & Platt to Layoff 172 at Its Lexington Manufacturing Plant

172 workers will lose jobs at Leggett & Platt in Lexington by March 2019. The company will retain at least 52 employees.

Leggett & Platt announced it is reducing its workforce at its fashion bed manufacturing operations located in Lexington, North Carolina. 

A press release stated that the lay off is because the company is consolidating operations.  

The consolidation will affect approximately 172 employees, primarily production workers including assemblers, machine operators, welders and painters.  

The Company anticipates that affected employees will be released by the end of the first quarter 2019.  The affected employees will receive a 60 day notice with pay and benefits from the date they received formal notice.  

Leggett & Platt said it will keep about 52 employees in a continuing manufacturing operation in Lexington, as the Company builds on its efforts serve continuing customer needs.  

Leggett & Platt, Incorporated which is based in Carthage, Missouri, is one of the leading manufacturers of components for beddings, other home furniture and work furniture.
