Put Your Money, Where Your 'Happiness' Is!

You've heard the saying, "Put your money where your mouth is," but money expert, Ja'Net Adams says put your money towards happiness.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — More money, more problems right; well at least that's the saying!

If you find there's some truth to that, our money expert Ja'Net Adams is adding a twist to it and a way that you can add meaning to your bank account.

Adams, who wrote the book, The Money Attractor: Everyone's Guide To Winning With Money So They Can Live Their Dreams, says instead of allowing your money to create more problems, you should put your money towards things that make you happy.

"If we look back to the lives of our grandparents and our great grandparents it is obvious that they grew up without much. Even with not having much they still enjoyed certain happiness. Today we are more educated, have more money and we are still not happy," said Adams.

Adams offers these three ways that you can put your money and your happiness together.

1. Look around you

"Take some time today or tomorrow and just look around your home. Go through each room and take inventory of what you have in your possession. What this will do is put you in a state of gratefulness. What it may also do is add to your happiness of giving to others when you take all the extra items in your home to Goodwill or the Salvation Army."

2. Focus on what matters

"Think about what really makes you happy. When you figure that out you have to focus your money there. Do you like to be away from everyone and relax? Then you need to focus your money on travel and vacations. Not on new clothes or a new car."

3. Never Forget

"Both my grandmother, great grandmother, and even my mother grew up without money. My mother had to share a home in the country with eight other siblings. I make it a point to never forget where I could be financially and that helps me to stop the complaining before it starts."

Adams says to use this time to re-evaluate what really makes you happy and then make sure to put your hard earned money towards that happiness.
