GREENSBORO, NC -- The Glenwood Recreation emergency shelter will relocate to the Windsor Recreation Center today at 5:30pm.

The shelter is relocating to give those affected easier access to the shelter. A shuttle service will provide the transition from Glenwood to Windsor beginning at 5:30 pm. The Windsor Recreation Center is located at 1601. E. Gate City Blvd. Glenwood Shelter users who may have left personal belongings will be able to recover their items before 10pm and use the shuttle to return to the new location.

The city has decided to open the Windsor Recreation Center now that power has been restored. It will also be easier for disaster survivors to gain access to services provided by the Red Cross and partner agencies.
For those in need of shelter, you can check shelter availability and whether a shelter is open by using the Red Cross Emergency App.

OTHER SHELTERS OFFERING RELIEF
Six Triad YMCA's are open to tornado victims. The locations are offering use of their showers and changing areas, as well as stations for charging electronics.
- Mary Perry Ragsdale Family YMCA (900 Bonner Drive, Jamestown)
- Kathleen Price Bryan YMCA (501 W. Market St., Greensboro)
- Alex W. Spears II YMCA (3216 Horse Pen Creek Road, Greensboro)
- Stoney Creek Express YMCA (954-D Golf House Rd W, Whitsett)
- Reidsville YMCA (504 S Main St., Reidsville)
- Eden Family YMCA (301 S. Kennedy Ave., Eden)
Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA is closed due to a power outage.
- The Interactive Resource Center (407 E. Washington St., Greensboro) is also open for extended hours to help with showers, laundry, hygiene needs and more.
- Tuesday, Core Church in Greensboro (2461-G Greengate Drive) will open Tuesday at 6 p.m. as a shelter for tornado victims. Food and water will be provided. The church is asking those who can to bring their own sleep gear. There is a kid-friendly room for babies and toddlers. Anyone wanting to donate should send funds to Cash App name GSONCcrisis or deliver relief items to the church. For more information, call 336-509-7613 or 336-814-1912.
The Red Cross encourages anyone coming to a shelter to bring the following items for each member of their family:
• Prescriptions and emergency medications
• Foods that meet unusual dietary requirements
• Identification to show residence is in affected area and important personal documents
• Extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies and other comfort items
• Supplies needed for children and infants, such as diapers, formula and toys
• Special items for family members who are elderly or disabled
• Chargers for any electronic devices you bring with you
• Books, games and other ways to entertain your family and yourself
