DANVILLE, VA -- A roof collapse in Danville, Virginia caused a gas leak, and in turn -- the entire 300 Block of Main Street to be evacuated.

The roof collapse call at The Venue came in at around 4 o'clock on Saturday afternoon.

People at a restaurant next door, Dell’Anno’s Pizza Kitchen, called 911 after they smelled gas, said the Danville Fire Department.

Several other businesses also had to be shut down while the gas line was shut off.

Within the hour, crews were able to shut down the gas line, and allow people to return to the area.

The Venue gas lines are still shut off, and have to be repaired. Until that time, The Venue's doors will have to remain closed.

No one was injured in the roof collapse.
