Celebration Of Life Held For Five Children Killed In Greensboro Fire

The family is from Democratic Republic of Congo and resettled here in 2016.

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Hundreds gathered Saturday to celebrate the lives of five young children killed in a Greensboro apartment fire on Saturday, May 12.

Five tiny coffins lined the first of Mount Zion Baptist Church for the service. Investigators say the deadly fire started when food was left cooking unattended on the stove.

Who are the children, the family?

The family is from Congo. Firefighters said the children included two girls and three boys.

  • Joshua John, 3
  • Trump Emmanuel Kamali, 1
  • Hope and Lisa attended Rankin Elementary School.
  • Rankin Elementary staff is working on a plan to help the family
