Here's When North Carolina's Fall Colors Are Expected To Peak

There's a new interactive map that predicts when the fall colors will peak in every location throughout the country.

(WFMY) — Halloween decorations are already filling stores which means it won't be long before fall hues paint North Carolina foliage red, orange and yellow.

For you nature enthusiasts and leaf peepers, there's an interactive map that predicts when fall colors will peak in every location throughout the country.

What's the expectation for us in North Carolina? Below is a timeline of the fall foliage predictions:

Mountains, far northern counties parallel to Rockingham, and northeastern Coastal Plains counties from Nash to Currituck:

- "Minimal" fall colors the week of Oct. 1

- "Patchy" fall colors the week of Oct. 8

- "Partial" fall colors the week of Oct. 15

- "Near peak" fall colors the week of Oct. 22

- "Peak" fall colors the week of Oct. 29

- "Past peak" fall colors the week of Nov. 5

The Piedmont including Mecklenburg, Wake and Guilford counties, and central and southern Coastal Planes and Tidewater:

- "Minimal" fall colors the week of Oct. 8

- "Patchy" fall colors the week of Oct. 15

- "Partial" fall colors the week of Oct. 22

- "Near peak" fall colors the week of Oct. 29

- "Peak" fall colors the week of Nov. 5

- "Past peak" fall colors the week of Nov. 12
