REIDSVILLE, N.C. -- Police have identified the suspect who was shot by a Reidsville Police Officer Thursday evening around 6:00 p.m.
Police say Londre Daveairre Bernstein, 24, was released from the hospital and taken into custody by Reidsville Police Department.
He was charged with driving while license revoked, felony fleeing to elude, hit and run, and displaying a fictitious license plate.
Police say an officer tried to pull over Berstein's car near the intersection of Ware Street and Bessemer Street. Berstein sped away from officers, wrecking the vehicle. Police say he then jumped from the car and ran away.
Reidsville Police Chief Robert Hassell tells WFMY News 2 that during the foot chase there was an altercation resulting in the suspect being shot in the leg by the officer.

Police say Bernstein also had outstanding warrants from Caswell County which were misdemeanor probation violations, resist public officer, and first degree trespass.
Bernstein was placed under a $205,000 bond in the Rockingham County Detention Center. Additional charges are pending.
According to a news release, the police department says it has in-car and some body cam video; which is being reviewed. Police say it will not be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
This is the second officer-involved shooting in the Triad this week.
Tuesday evening a Greensboro officer shot a man who pointed a gun at him after a traffic stop on Battleground Avenue. Two other people in the car were arrested and one has been charged in the murder of a 16-year-old Greensboro girl.
Police confirmed they were attempting to stop the car because it fit the description given during their investigation into the shooting, which happened Monday night.
