HIGH POINT, NC -- High Point Police say they arrested a former Walmart employee and charged him with sexually assaulting two boys in the Walmart at 2628 South Main St.
High Point Police say a parent reported that their 12-year-old son had been approached by a Walmart employee in the electronics section during a visit to the store on January 27, 2018. On March 31, 2018, High Point Police received a similar complaint. Another parent reported that their 10-year-old son had been approached by a Walmart employee in the toy section during a visit to the store. During both incidents, the juveniles were approached by who police identified as Caleb Bowers while they were unattended in the store and engaged in conversation prior to the criminal acts occurring.
Police arrested 20-year-old Caleb Michael Bowers of Trinity. He's charged with 1 count of felony statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and 1 count of felony indecent liberties with a child from two separate incidents. Bowers is in the Guilford County Jail in High Point under a $250,000 secured bond.
Police say investigators are still actively investigating both incidents, as well as Bowers tenure as an employee at that Walmart Store. Anyone with information related to Bowers or either incident is asked to contact Detective Carroll at 336-887-7842 or Crimestoppers at 336-889-4000.
Walmart issued the following statement:
“We take this matter very seriously and work to maintain a safe environment for our customers and associates. The person in question is no longer with the company. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement during their investigation, and will refer additional questions to them.”
