GREENSBORO - Saturday figures to be a busy day in the recovery effort for the tornado that ravaged northeast Greensboro and parts of Rockingham County last weekend.
Here's a list of several organizations helping tornado victims and how you can get involved:
CITY OF GREENSBORO VOLUNTEER SIGN UP
To further assist with Tornado relief, The City of Greensboro is providing a sign-up sheet online. Those who sign up are asked to note any special skills and desired opportunities they would like to pursue to help. You can sign up here.
The city is offering two parking locations and shuttle service for those wanting to clean up tornado debris this weekend.

- Gateway University Research Park: 2901 E. Gate City Blvd.
- Target, 2701 Lawndale Dr.
- Target, 1628 Highwoods Blvd.
- Walmart, 4424 W. Wendover Ave

GREENSBORO CHILDREN'S MUSEUM
The Greensboro Children's Museum will be taking items for the 3 Guilford County Schools damaged by the tornado. Any school supplies are welcome, the following items are especially needed: 24 pack crayons, 12 pack colored pencils, Wide ruled loose leaf paper (yellow). You can drop off items at the Greensboro Children's Museum all week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The school supply donation site started with a few moms and kids wanting to help. Organizer Rosemary Plybon said, “When you put out the help in Greensboro-- people really answer." Student, Laney Kaley, said, “I think it's pretty cool because they need more school supplies because what if you left some of your school supplies over the weekend while you were gone?"
ADVANCED AUTO PARTS COLLECTING DONATIONS
Two Greensboro Advanced Auto Parts locations (2514 Battleground Ave., 3814 N. Church St.) are accepting canned food, water, clothing and monetary donations.
BACKPACK BEGINNINGS
Fleet Feet Sports (Greensboro and High Point locations) is collecting donations on behalf of BackPack Beginnings. They're asking for non-perishable food (juice boxes, fruit cans, rice, kid-friendly snacks), hygiene products (deodorant, toothpaste, soap, washcloths) and children's clothes.
HABITAT GREENSBORO
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro is extending its tornado relief donation drive into the weekend. Habitat Greensboro will collect items at the Habitat Greensboro office (1031 Summit Ave.) and second ReStore parking lot (2190 Lawndale Drive at the intersection of Lawndale Drive and Cornwallis Drive). Flashlights, batteries, food, blankets, tarps for temporary roof covering, plywood for windows, rubber gloves/work gloves and heavy-duty trash bags are all accepted items. You can donate items on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
ICRCM SCHOOL SUPPLY DONATIONS
The International Civil Rights Center and Museum is serving as a collection site for new school supplies. Collection times are 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily in front of the museum located at 134 South Elm Street in Greensboro. The museum is closed on Sundays.
WILLIAM'S LEMONADE STAND
William Martin, a 10-year-old Greensboro boy, is holding a lemonade stand and accepting food donations for tornado victims as well as his project 'No Kid Will Go Hungry' Saturday. All non-perishable food items are accepted. There will be lemonade, hot dogs and games for kids to play.
You can find the stand at 5326 Summerwood Drive in Greensboro.
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY
Rockingham Rescue Mission needs the following items: Donations, non-perishable food, and hygiene products. Items can be dropped off at Rockingham Rescue Mission at 3692 NC Highway 14 in Reidsville. You can mail a check to the address but do not send cash. You can also donate Rockingham Rescue Rockingham Rescue will also set up a staging area at Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church on Saturday, April 21 and on Saturday, April 28. The church is located at 261 Estes Road in Ruffin.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
If you want to donate to the Guilford Education Alliance, you can call the warehouse at (336) 841-4332 to figure out a good time to drop supplies off. They also take cash and check donations or you can donate online through their website and on Facebook. You can also text PENCIL to 76959 if you want to donate through a credit card.
This weekend, you can also look out for school buses at Target stores on Lawndale Drive and New Garden Road or at the Walmart on Wendover. You can drop donations off there for the Guilford Education Alliance.
